Mute Branches started out with a loose manifesto of “the lo-fi sound of small towns”. Warped instrumentation, field recordings, and found sounds combine to create music meant to soundtrack the hidden spaces that we map over the top of everyday life. There is beauty in these ruins, and Mute Branches would love to be your guide.
'Pornography' is such a relentlessly bleak album, but there are a few brief moments where it feels like occasional cracks of light bleed out through the darkness. 'A Strange Day' has my favourite of these: it's that few seconds where Smith sings “and for one moment, I remember a song” that kickstarted my own interpretation. Also – I love the oppressive-sounding drums throughout this album and had, just a few weeks earlier, figured out that I could get a great gothic / industrial percussion sound by drumming my fingers on the biscuit tin and running the recording through my guitar amp.

Absolutely beautiful, so,so excited for what will come in the future, both songs have lifted my heart and brought some magic to the festive season. paulpoop1

I got to know TS thanks to them supporting The Cure in 2016. Now, six years later, I was in the same place tearing up to the climax of every song in their set. Such a phenomenal sounding and raw live recording. furtherdowncol
