HENS BENS make pop music in block capitals.
Their live shows are fun, unpredictable and loud, featuring power tools, balloons, costume changes, fruit and confetti. Uniquely over-driven and blown-out, HENS BENS’ sound has earned them the title of “the loudest band in Fife”, with sub-two minute songs covering such topics as volunteering to become a brain in a jar, Snoop Dogg’s Gran Turismo 3 addition, iPads vs real computers and kidnapping a magician.
2022’s ‘MILD’ EP was described by BBC 6 Music’s Tom Robinson as “a grimly comic masterpiece”. Phonic FM’s Mark Montague called them “bonkers and brilliant”. Fresh on the Net’s Poppy Bristow described 2023 single ‘PLEASE CAN HENS BENS SUPPORT DEVO’ as “barrelling along at a speed which leaves you feeling like you’ve been whacked by a mallet”.
HENS BENS can be enjoyed on Bandcamp, Spotify or most other streaming services, or in person in and around Scotland.

3. A paragraph explaining why you covered this song
We wanted to represent The Cure’s ability to be angry, sad and silly at the same time. ‘Bananafishbones’ is an under-appreciated example of this. It’s also just a great pop song that leaves a little bit of room for interpretation both lyrically and musically. I have no idea what it’s about, but enjoyed finding out what it sounds like at 200 miles per hour with auto-tuned vocals and toy keyboard orchestra stabs.
